Just got back from seeing Alice in Wonderland with my brother Brandon. My thoughts below.
First, let me say this, the movie is visually stunning. Really, truly stunning. Johnny Depp was wonderful as the Mad Hatter. He was great. Helena Bonham Carter was also wonderful as the Queen. No one does insanely evil better than Carter. And Alice was great. I don't know where they found that girl, but she was wonderful.
Now that that's out of the way, I really did not like this movie. It moved kind of slow in some places. Anne Hathaway annoyed the hell out of me. I understand the hand movements as she was clearly imitating some of the other princesses in the Disney franchise, i.e. Snow White, but her general overall demeanor annoyed me. But worst of all, the story was boring. Like, I really didn't care by the middle of the movie what happened to anyone. It just...sucked. Which is strange for me to say about a Tim Burton movie.
