I just received this review from someone over at Aff.net about Beautiful Disaster.

Every year, tens of thousands of women in countries like Nigeria, Iran, India, Pakistan, Yemen, Tanzania, etc are forced to marry men they have no choice over. There's nothing romantic about it. Do you Westerners, with all your choice, think that systems with less choice are somehow exotic and romantic? Stories like this insult women in forced marriages all over the world. Yes, many of those marriages end up ... content, after several years. But if you were to ask even those relatively happy wives if they would have liked to do things differently, they'd say yes. And as for the unhappy marriages - well the women there would just look at you blankly, for their spirit would long have been destroyed. How can you possibly write something like this? Dress it up however you like, you're still putting lipstick on a pig.

I don't really know what to say. I mean, I'm torn between being hurt and insulted. Hurt because I never meant to make a situation like arranged marriage seem romantic. In fact, I never even thought of it. And insulted because that person thought that I would do it purposely.

Talk about killing any initiative I've had.

Lack of posts has to do with obsession with WoW! For the last two days, I have been running my 80 DK Blood Elf through Stratholme trying to beef up my rep with the Argent Dawn. It's been a pain in the ass. In the actual instance, you only get 10 rep points for killing random things in the trash mobs. You can get the scourge stones, sure, but it takes freaking forever to accumulate enough to where it really starts to help you. I've been lost in this the last few days. I ran Strat I don't know how many times.

But now I'm exalted with Argent Dawn and Argent Crusade. Now I just need Ashen Verdict. I've also been working my way through the Argent Tournament Grounds becoming champions with all the Horde cities. I have them all except Sen'jin, but I think after the marathon of playing the last few days, I might take tomorrow off and not play until Monday night when I have Arena.

Oh yeah, I'm on 2 v 2, 3 v 3, and 5 v 5 arena teams. We suck sooooo bad. However, we did win a 5 v 5 because all the opposing people left. That sucks, but hey, we got the achievement for it. No Arena points however. I get my arena points from BGs and I use them to buy arena gear.

I'm sure this is boring a lot of you, but I wanted to be happy here and have someone...maybe bambue345, sayyidajaida, or adamolupin be happy and celebrate with me. However, they all run alliance so...they're like mortal enemies of mine.

In other news...Brittni's shower in B'Ham was today, and oh my god you guys, we drove 2 hours through a fucking monsoon! It was raining so hard at times, you couldn't see the car in front of you. It doesn't help that my mom drives for shit and was in two lanes at certain points...ON THE FREEWAY!...and that she was driving up this person's ass and not looking. When we made it to my cousin's house, alive, I was so relieved I had to run to the bathroom.

Nicole did a fantastic job! Cute little finger foods and punch. Unfortunately, because of the hellacious rain we drove through, that kept some people away. All of my dad's sisters were there, and my mom's sister was there, and a few of my dad's first cousins showed up, but total, there were like 15 people there when it should have been like 75. It was flipping crazy.

Brittni and Adam got some really great stuff. They got new bedding, a fry daddy (which Adam was thrilled about), a lot of towels, some nice votive candles and things. A really great haul.

When we left Nicole's house, it sunny and beautiful with bright pink skies. It figures, doesn't it?

My nephew Landon is now putting whole sentences together. He's not two yet, but he doesn't point at things and grunt, the way a lot of babies apparently do. I found this out because Ashley works at a daycare with Landon's age group and says that some of them only make sounds and things. Landon is talking. He's so freaking cute!

He was sitting on the bed with my dad this morning, having a bottle, and he handed it to my dad and said "Put this over there" talking about on his night stand. My mom and dad looked at him and my dad laughed and took it from him. He's also learning to swim. We got him some water wings and he knows how to hold himself up. He will swim to the deep end, in the swimmers, and climb up the ladder, and jump in. Now, don't get panicked. He can't get the back doors open. We keep them locked and they are almost too heavy for me to open. I worry more about him going out the front door. That one he can open and we keep it bolt locked so he can't get out.

He's too smart for his own good.

I finished my Scorpius/Rose fic yesterday! I really like the way it came out. It's sort of sweet and schmaltzy, but hey, I am what I am.

I also completed Chapter 24 of Beautiful Disaster and it is off at the beta. I think I like it more than I originally thought. I've been getting great reviews for it over at H&V by people who haven't read it. It surprises me sometimes when people haven't read it. Does that make me sound conceited? It's not that, it's just that it's been around since 2004, I guess I assumed that most people in the fandom have at least glimpsed or read the summary. I guess that tells me not to make assumptions.
