Politics as usual

I've been pretty quiet on the political front for a while now, mainly because I just can't believe what is actually happening. So, here are my thoughts, agree with them or don't, that's your choice.
I don't expect this national health care plan to go through. Mainly because you have 44 house democrats who say that they will not vote for a health care bill with a public option and 54 won't vote for one without it. Not to mention that the republicans are almost all against the public option. So, it'll die in the house or it will die in the Senate. The speech last night didn't answer any questions for me. Instead, I'm still left with several:
How are you going to pay for it?
If Medicare is so evil and is failing, why use it as an example as a government program that's worked? If it worked, why not simply expand it?
He'd been saying that he was going to cover 45 million people without health insurance, but last night he said 34 million? Who did you cut out? Illegal immigrants, maybe? And if that's the case, why not admit it? Most Americans would be happy to hear that!!
Truth is, that while this sort of system may work in England and France, it won't work here! We're different. Our country isn't set up to do this. People in those countries come HERE when they need emergency medical procedures!
I heard the most horrible story the other day, and I want to share it with you guys, and it's from a friend of the family. Keep in mind that my sister in law had a C-section and her friend Jessica had a C-section after being in labor only 4 hours, for the sake of the baby because they didn't think she would ever be able to deliver.
So, this guy lives in Canada and is enrolled in the medical plan there. His wife was nine months pregnant and went into labor on like Tuesday. They kept waiting for her to be fully dilated and it just wasn't happening, but they didn't want to do a C-section because of cost. The husband even asked about a C-section but was told that it wasn't prudent to do one, this is 20 hours into labor! So, after the woman is in labor for 72 hours, they finally decided that she wasn't going to be able to deliver the baby vaginally and allowed her to have a C-section. 72 HOURS because they felt it was CHEAPER to let this woman suffer. Jessica had one after 4 hours! Tell me how that is what's in the best interest of the patient.
Look, I'm sure we all have horror stories about stuff like this. But, I know from my own experience that I would much rather have an emergency test done quickly rather than six months down the road. About four years ago, I went to the gyno for a papsmear, fun, right? Not. Anyway, as she was pressing on my abdomen, she looks at me all concerned and goes, "We're scheduling you for an ultrasound because I feel a what I think might be fibroid tumors." Two hours later, I'm getting an ultrasound and find out that it wasn't tumors, just me being fat. However, had it been fibroids, I would have been very happy to know that I at least knew immediately and not six months from now. Could you imagine waiting six months? Really? I would be going out of my mind if I had to wait that long?
And what will this do to those people who need treatments for cancer? Especially the elderly? Are we really going to decide that they've lived their lives and it's easier to save someone young than to waste time and money on their health? Really? Think about your parents. Your grandparents. Do you want someone telling you that, "well Granny's had a good life, but we think its best if you just let her go"?
My grandmother was never sick in my whole life until she got pneumonia and fell in the bathroom and broke her foot, which took her to the hospital, where they admitted her. She was in there for 18 days before she passed away. Are you telling me, really telling me, that you think they should have let her die rather than treating her? Even if the outcome was death? Are you seriously going to tell me that my grandmother had lived her life and instead of trying to do everything they could to not only bring back a wife, but mother and grandmother, that it would be best to allow her to die? If you say yes, then FUCK YOU! Imagine you're own family. Put yourself in someone else's shoes you piece of shit and grow the heart you claim to have that bleeds all over any fucking cause someone throws in front of you.
It is not your decision when someone should die. It is not the governments decision when someone should die. It's ridiculous to even suggest that a person should hold that kind of power over another.
So, let me say this, and make it very clear. Those that support this live in a fantasy world. You're blinded by your desire to make everyone equal. Guess what? IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! There are always inequalities in life! Life isn't fair. Let me repeat. LIFE ISN'T FUCKING FAIR! And if this option is going to be so fucking wonderful and we'll all go running through fields, skipping and happy and just gosh, perfect, then why aren't the people writing these bills willing to put themselves on it? They don't want this. They'll get to keep their coverage the way it is. So, try to peddle that this is a good option for this country somewhere else.
If you disagree with me, I don't give a fuck. If you think I'm spewing right rhetoric, it's not rhetoric if it's true! It's just shit you don't want to hear because it might destroy your perfect little image of this abomination.
Can you tell I'm pissed off?
