ashleyfanficTODAY IS THE DAY! Going to see Harry Potter tonight at 9:30, because when I bought tickets all other showings were sold out. My friend Michelle is coming down to see it with me. Isn't she a good friend?
My mom is making her a birthday cake from scratch! Her husband didn't get her one, take her out to dinner, nothing. So, I'm going to be the good best friend that I am and we're going to dinner and stuff. Should be fun! I miss my bestest!
In other news...
I don't really have any other news. I could talk about politics, but eh. I will say this. If people try to say that their race and life experiences don't play a role in the decisions they make, they're dead wrong and lying. Our experiences shape everything. That's why if you get your heart broken you're reluctant to give it out again. Your past experience makes you think that you're just going to get hurt.
As for Sotomayor, remarkable woman. I'm not too fond of her politics and she's done more tap dancing these last couple of days than Gregory Hines, but she's really shown the background of the American can-do attitude. She didn't let anything stand in her way to get to where she is. That's something to be admired.
Her ruling on the firefighters...*sigh* it bothers me when people say it's 'reverse discrimination' because to me discrimination is discrimination. If you discriminate against someone be it because they're white, black, female, have green polka dots, it's just plain ole discrimination.
I also find it funny that a case like that happened in the north, which is supposed to be more open minded about race and everything than in the south. Just saying.
