Very irritated

ashleyfanficOkay, so I thought I was doing a good thing until my friend just made me feel bad about it.
Brittni's brother is getting married in Houston in two weeks. Her dad's side of the family have yet to meet Landon or Adam, so they're taking him to meet her family for the wedding. From Alabama it's about a 12 hour drive to Houston, and that's a VERY long way to travel with a 9 month old baby. It will take them about 3 days to get there because they'll have to stop just to get Landon out of the car. And with gas prices rising and then having to get a hotel room to sleep a couple nights, it will cost just as much for them to fly than to drive. Not to mention that Landon would be MISERABLE in a car. He doesn't like riding for 2 hours, let alone 4 or 5.
So, we started looking at flights and it's going to cost like +$600 for them to fly non-stop, because having those two idiots try to change planes would be a disaster! Anyway, they can't afford to fly and Brittni's family is crap, so I'm going to foot the bill for them to fly because I don't want Landon to be miserable. So, with that in mind, we found flights for them to take.
Now, here's the irritated part of the story.
I told my friend about this and she just ranted about how they're adults and they need to be responsible for themselves and pay for the trip themselves or not go. Not go is not an option to Brittni, so they'll fly or drive. I told her that I'm doing it for Landon, not them and she just went on and on about how they need to learn responsibility and I was like "if they were responsible they wouldn't have had a baby they couldn't afford". So, yeah, I'm just generally TOed.
She's just mad for me because she knows how much I just do not like my job at the moment, that it's stressing me out in ways I've never mentioned to anyone but her. And I told her I'll never see the money again, and she was just mad that I was doing it for them and they weren't going to pay me back.
Thing is, Adam makes $150 a week and Brittni doesn't work because her grandmother said she'll stop paying her medical bills if she does (because she can control Brittni with that stuff). So they can't actually afford to go. You all know me. I'm a person who preaches about living within their means and this isn't in their means. They'll never pay this money back, and I made my peace with that. I have a policy that I don't LEND money to family, I GIVE them money. If they pay me back, that's great, if not, no skin off my nose. But Brittni hasn't seen her dad since she was like 15 years old and he's yet to see his grandson. And I just hate the thought of Landon in a car that long so I'm more than willing to shell out the money.
She just made me feel so bad about what I'm doing for them because she claims that I'm not making them be responsible. And maybe I'm not, but I don't think a lesson in responsibility is a lesson to learn in an airport in a different city with a 9 month old baby and a 24 year old idiot!
