My thoughts behind the cut!
Let me list my favorite things:
1. Harry. I think if I'm at all honest with myself, Harry is my favorite character. I laugh with him, I cry with him, I get frustrated, angry, and just melancholy with him. I feel all of it because in someway, we all have to like Harry on some level, otherwise why read the books? Harry proved himself, not only as a person who does things, not because he wants to, but because he has to. The difference between a child and an adult. In this respect, Harry has become a man and does what he knows is right even if he'd terrified of the outcome, yet he still feels all the loss and emptiness that a lot of teenagers go through, because lets face it, no one ever understands your problems as well as you do.
2. The friendship between Harry and Hermione. To me, this was a shining beacon in the book. It really showed how much value and trust that the two had in each other, and even though she was miserable without Ron, she couldn't fathom leaving Harry to do the task alone. Harry might have been a bit put out with her on more than one occassion, but I think it really proved that their friendship was something solid that they could both lean on in times of need.
3. The Malfoy Family. Okay, all of you who write fics about Lucius abusing his family-- STOP IT NOW!! I called it. I knew it!! There were several things I just want to touch on. First, seated at the table as Voldy starts to antagonize Lucius, Narcissa takes his hand, which I thought was a really tender moment. Second, when they're in Malfoy Manor and Draco's face has been cut open, Narcissa isn't even concerned with trying to keep Harry and gang from leaving but is instead covering her son. And that scene in the manor. Draco knew damn well it was Harry, Ron, and Hermone, and yet he seemed almost reluctant to confirm it. And then, then end with Narcissa helping Harry to fake his death and then the two of them scrambling around the battle looking for Draco SPOKE VOLUMES! LIKE THE ENCLYOPEDIA BABY!!!
4. Percy redeemed himself in the end, and it made me tear up that he was sobbing over Fred's body.
Things I didn't like:
1. EVERYTHING ELSE! UGH! It was like bad fan fiction! Just pissed me the fuck off!
ETA!!
2-18(it seems). I think this is the one thing that bothered me most. HOW MANY TIMES WAS HARRY GOING TO FUCKING ESCAPE!?!?! I mean, once or twice, yeah, okay I can believe that. But it seemed like every fucking chapter he was narrowly escaping getting caught. Are you fucking kidding me? REALLY!!!??? And not only that -- HE MARCHED INTO THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC!?!? DO HUH!?!? I think it was actually WORSE than fan fiction.
