So, as many of you know I'm a die hard Alabama fan. If you live here you have to choose between Alabama and Auburn and I choose Alabama. So, with that comes learning about the history and the tradition. Tradition is a word you hear a lot when it comes to the Crimson Tide and the reason stands with one man, Paul "Bear" Bryant. Alabama has 12 National Championships, something like 18 SEC championships. They have been the dominate force in the College Football world for so long that people find it hard to believe that they could be back up there once more.
At least, not so quickly. Nick Saban was hired with the intention of getting Alabama back to the ranks of the greats, to get us back to the National Championship contention. People said it may take three or four years. Now you have people saying, maybe it's only two years. Alabama had the number one recruiting class in the nation. Players want to play for Nick Saban. He's a perfectionist. So, you would think that he'd be happy that Alabama ran all over Arkansas 49-14. No. He saw the mistakes, he wants to improve the mistakes.
But Alabama did something rather impressive, something they hadn't done in years. A goal line stand. With Mt. Cody and Elrod McClain in the middle they prevented Arkansas from scoring, on the goal line. In fact, he lost two yards. Glen Coffee was all over the field. Our defense was making their quarterback panic. Our offense was confusing the hell out of their defensive line. And when push came to shove, Alabama pushed harder.
The win against Arkansas was huge. A win against #3 Georgia would be even bigger. But none of that matters. The only game in Alabama that truly matters is against Auburn. If Alabama manages to run over Auburn the way they have Clemson, Tulane, Kentucky St., and Arkansas, then Alabama will truly be back where it's supposed to be.
