Wow! Even LJ is talking about her.
I think it depends on if you're looking at it as a Democrat or a Republican. Republicans are thrilled with this choice. She's extremely conservative, believes in the things that the conservatives believe in. She's against big government, she's against abortion, and she's in support of the military. She's been in an executive office, which is something that the other three people running can't say. So, I think for the Republicans it's a very clever choice on McCain's part.
On the Dems side, I think they're appauled by this choice. Everything that the Republicans like about her the Dems fear. She doesn't support abortion (which I think is a weird choice of phrase because I don't see people in FAVOR of abortion but in favor of the ability to choose), her son has joined the army and is being shipped to Iraq on Sept. 11 of this year so she supports the military, and she doesn't like a lot of government involvment where Democrats support government aide.
Being a conservative, and look, I don't want a bunch of replies telling me that I should open my eyes, I like this choice as VP. Thursday night, I was scared shitless after Obama's speech (he scares me regardless). However, McCain picked the best person he could have. McCain was seen by his own party as being too liberal. Palin is as conservative as they come. It was a genius choice on his part. Obama can tout change all he wants, but he had the choice to win outright by choosing Hilary as his running mate, but he chose Biden instead. Instead, you have McCain, who is known as being a Maverick and works well with Dems on more than one occassion, has even been friendly with Ted Kennedy despite the complaints of those in his party, and he had to chose someone more conservative than he was to appeal to his base, Evangelical Christians.
I really, really like her. I don't care what others say. I like knowing that if you give my President and VP a gun they can stand up and defend their country.
